Winter 2016 was a great year to head to the Simpson Desert. While some people experienced road closures, as we did for part of our trip, we were lucky enough that we were able to get out into the centre and were able to witness what can only be described as a once in a life time experience. Lake Eyre in flood.
We set off early in the morning aboard a 7 seat light aircraft for a 1 hour flight out to and over the lake.
Witnessing the sun rise over the water of the lake was something I don’t think I will forget especially when it rises enough so that you experience the dual sun effect with the reflection in the water.
Looking forward to the next installments, I was getting excited then it ended. Did you go to Painted Desert and Eringa and cross the Simpson?
Hi Tony, I’ve added the next instalment. http://geotripping.net/william-creek-to-arckaringa-station/
We did Tony, thanks for kicking me into gear. I will endeavor to finish off the trip.
